Brseč lithography studio in Brseč is run and owned by Maja Franković who is graphic artist and university professor of printing techniques. The 5 day lithography workshop is aimed for more experienced artist who does not need to have printing experience.

Participants will be working and printing under the guidance of Franković on litho stones of different sizes: from 20 x 35 cm to 38 x 56 cm, on lithographic press of printing size of 80 x 120 cm. Participants will be working from their own drawings in one or more colours. It is advised that participants bring at least 3 preparatory drawings. Participants are expected to print at least 5 copies of a single print and leave one copy of each series to the studio for the purpose of the exhibition and archive.

Maximal number of participants is 4 per term.

Lessons provided in Croatian, English, French or Italian.

 

Period: booking till end April

First term - first week in June, Monday to Friday

Second term - second week in June, Monday to Friday

Working hours: 9 AM to 1 PM (coffee/tea from 11 to 11.30 AM provided by the studio)

                            4 PM to 7 PM (coffee/tea break from 5.30 to 6 PM provided by the studio)

                            7 hours per full-day workshop/5 days, 35 hours per workshop

 

Price: 2.000,00 Kn (cca 270 Euro) for five days workshop for a single participant.

It includes mentoring and all necessary tools for printing and drawing on stones: litho inks (nontoxic and conventional), litho drawing sticks, litho pencils and china, rollers, brayers and printing papers. Participants are expected to bring their own paper drawing materials.

Meals and accommodation are not included in the price.

Exhibition: group exhibition and vernissage on Saturdays, at Gallery Eugen K. in Brseč. Participants are expected to mount the exhibition in the morning hours of Saturday. The duration of the exhibition is 7 days.

 

Location

Brseč is a small, calm medieval littoral town in Istria region, Croatia, not far from Slovenian and Italian border. It has 100 inhabitants, a beautiful beach and intact nature. Almost all inhabitants rent apartments or rooms (cca 25 - 30 Euro per person) which can be rented through Booking.com or www.tz-moscenicka.hr (choose:  privatni smještaj – where to stay). It is advisable to choose accommodation in Brseč to be able to walk to the studio. Brseč has a restaurant, a pizzeria and a small grocery shop.

How to reach Brseč

 

By car: the easiest way to reach Brseč is by car.

By plain: the nearest airport is Pula (55 km to Brseč). Take bus from Pula to Brseč.

By bus: from Rijeka (35 km to Brseč).

By train: train to Rijeka and from there by bus to Brseč.
